Pubs and Restaurants

There are many local cafes, restaurants and pubs in Usk. We have compiled a list of a small number here. Please enquire at reception if you are looking for a particular kind of cuisine.

Golf

South Wales is a mecca for golfing enthusiasts. Llancayo House is situated close to some of the best courses in the the area, including the famous Celtic Manor Resort which hosts the 2010 Ryder Cup. Fishing

The River Usk, which is a short walk from Llancayo House, is said by many expert fishing enthusiasts to be the best river for fly fishing within 2.5 hours drive from London (we have been told that some celebrity Usk fishermen include the late George Melly, Timothy Dalton, Billy Connolly and members of the royal family). Brown trout fishing permits are available from the post office and Sweet's Fishing Tackle Shop in Usk, owned by world famous fly cast champion Lionel Sweet. Cycling

The Llancayo area is often used for cycling competitions, and the long scenic routes in the Usk Valley area make it an ideal spot for a cycling holiday. We offer secure cycle lock-up facilities, drying faciliuties and packed lunches for all those wishing to get on thier bikes and stay with us. For more information, please click here.

Horse Riding

Llancayo House has a large paddock and stables and it is possible, by prior arrangement, to bring your horse on holiday with you and stay with us. We have two gorgeous and friendly thoroughbred horses, who would enjoy the company! In the immediate area there are many scenic bridal paths and other riding routes to enjoy, and also many local shows and competitions, not to mention a number of renowned riding schools.
